Writing Workshop
Journal Writing
We are going to end this school year with a unit on keeping a journal. We have studied the three main genres of writing (opinion, informative, and narrative) since kindergarten. Using our accrued knowledge of the genres and writing process we will continue our writing practice through keeping a journal. Why a journal? First, a journal is place were we can keep our thoughts and ideas. Second, it is a place were we can continue to write everyday; building our writing skills. Finally, keeping a journal at this historic moment of time will give our future selves a primary source to look back upon and to reflect on our lives. In addition, I am hoping your child will continue writing in their journal through the summer and for years to come. |
